Noses

For some reason I decided to type in Google "which nose hole do you breathe out of." I was just curious cause of late my nose has been getting stuffy, typically always the right nostril. So I breathe out of the left nostril. I should start taking data and see if this is random or really the right nostril always clogs! Funny some info you can learn from websites, though whether they are believable is another issue. Apparently Cleopatra was well known for her beauty and very large nose. Tyco Brahe had an actual gold nose tip because his real one was sliced off in a duel! Completely useless trivia to shock friends, and perhaps its not even true! Is this what my brain cells are used for?!

This just shows how indispensable Google has become, at least for my life. I practically use it to find anything I need, restaurant menus, pictures, all sorts of stuff. The old fashioned let's go to the library to find things may be going bye bye. I do have to say I'd miss getting a personalized library card with my photo on it. Maybe Google can give out digitized search id cards for fun. Of course I don't really think that's a good idea because it would be too big brothery.

Actually if you live in New York City, you have a wonderful source for info. The New York Public Library. It's awesome. I've actually done real research there for a small personal project on a particular NY building. The library had all sorts of information needed: fire maps from the late 1800s onwards, lot and building photos, biographies of the architects, comments on the architectural style.... And the feeling of actually looking at or touching documents and maps that are at least a hundred years older than you still feels different from looking at a googled scanned image. So I guess, at least for me, there are still some occasions to go to the library. If not to look for info, at least to get a personalized photo library card!

M's first art installation

My son and I went exercising at the gym this morning (Feb. 2, 2019). We had physical and mental workouts, and I was full of pride to see him put together this exhibit. He called it, "Train." The work is abstract, with the cone symbolizing the engine and the ball can be pictured as "balls of steam" that roll out of the chimney or exhaust system! Train

3D metal printing

I've worked with stainless steel in the machine shop, and it isn't exactly the easiest metal to drill or lathe. So to be able to print it, wow. Another interesting company is Shapeways. Here's a video (not metal printing in this case though).
