This weekend I was in California for my high school classmate's wedding. Actually he's not just a high school classmate, but elementary school and middle school too! So needless to say I've known this guy for a very long time. It's fun to see how far our class has gone. I still remember the first day at school, and it wasn't entirely the most pleasant one. I was kind of on the more than chubby side, and was immediately told so by several members of the class (fingers pointing, "He's fat!"). Actually, quite a number of them weren't that skinny either, Ron being one of them. Quite obviously, it took me some time to get to know people in the class. I think it's universal, perhaps from our survival instincts, that chubbier kids are not the most immediately popular. Usually having extra meat signals wealthier conditions which might be envied; this of course is just a theory. But I think I was also very used to having my way with things, and slightly on the bossy side since I was usually right about things. So I don't think I was immediately with the "in" crowd. I do remember Ron being a bit of a nasty kid. Used to have mean streaks and would pour water on me. Haha. People behave better once they get more mature. Ron was definitely great during high school when we worked on the computer club, BitSmart. He was very good with web design/ graphics and essentially helped build up several websites, just as the internet was growing popular..96-98. He even had a big thing going with pics and stories on the Kansas City Chiefs. That site eventually got shut down due to copyright issues. I remember most of us had some of the earliest ICQ numbers, like in the four or five digits or five to six digits or so.
And now he's married. Second in our class to get married. We've had quite a number of people in our class, I would say the largest numbering around 40 max, and then senior year 20 people. A good number of those 20 made it to the wedding. I guess you could call us the core group. Funny though I never felt I was part of any group in high school. Always sort of did my own thing. That's not to say we weren't good friends, but I never was in the loop in terms of gossip or anything. Never knew about who liked who or whatever. Hrm, low EQ?
Anyways, I'm waiting for the pics to be processed by another founding member of BitSmart, our resident computer specialist Helios, and then I may be able to put some up here. Also, the car pics will be up shortly. The title should be getting here within a day or so!!
